Creating conscious design is at the heart of every effort at DWD. And part of our definition of conscious design is our desire to give back to the community. We share with you a few inspired projects that support our community:
APLA Optimist is a DWD-designed print publication from AIDS Project Los Angeles. It spotlights APLA’s services, events and activities in the community. Check it out and donate generously to APLA.
Outfest: The annual film festival may be over but Outfest is a year-round effort. Outfest is dedicated to promoting and preserving LGBT art, film and culture. They are one of our most venerated local organizations and they need your continued support.
Christopher Street West throws the biggest gay party... Pride! CSW is an L.A.-based non-profit organization committed to the goals of education, human rights, outreach and better understanding in the LGBT and hetero communities. Spread the love.
Things we love right now that embrace conscious design:
Chocolates for a Cause
Indulge yourself for a good cause with these exquisite “Chocolates for Darfur” from local chocolatier, Compartes. The African-inspired collection contains exotic flavors like cardamom and caramelized plantain, and comes wrapped with a relief beads bracelet benefiting RELIEF INTERNATIONAL’s efforts in Darfur.
Save gas – ride a bike!
It’s cycle-logical: bike riding is economical, green, and has never made more sense. We found several alternative bicycle shops that serve various communities, but here’s our favorite: The Bicycle Kitchen in Silverlake, a non-profit that helps you build your own recycled cycles!
What to do in Gay LA
We love the new newsletter from Tom Whitman Presents, What to do in Gay L.A. Be sure to check activities of the Gang of 100, a fund-raising group that supports various local LGBT non-profits.
